Conversion of existing lobby level sales offices to a new concept bar & lounge space, in an existing 527 room hotel property located at the Wolf Pointe Confluence of the Chicago river. The Architects’ design specifically emphasized the panoramic views of east and south Chicago river branches, which had been previously obscured, opening the view to the atrium lobby through a new segmented glass wall and entry. Design and material choices were influenced by the river proximity, as expressed in wave pattern relief wall panels, an elliptical bar with sculptural bar front, and linear light fixtures with wave reflectors. The design also reflects an emphasis on natural, sustainable, and recyclable material selections as well as highly efficient electrical, which exceed the requirements of the Chicago Energy Code.
