Chicago Sustainable Manufacturing Center
Chicago, Illinois

Adaptive renovation of existing 23,000 s.f., three story warehouse
building located in Chicago's historic Stockyards District

A primary goal of the project is to serve as a model for
ecologically responsible and sustainable industrial development within an under-developed urban context, and it is designed to be LEED Platinum rated. In addition to flexible office and industrial tenant space, the building will provide conference and exhibition space for community meetings and educational seminars,
intending to promote the participation of the surrounding business and residential communities in the continued development
of the building’s urban neighborhood.

Building features include a green roof, rooftop wind turbines and active photovoltaic collectors to augment the building’s use of utility
source power, cistern for collection of rainwater run-off for
landscape irrigation and non-potable water, extensive use of
land-fill diverted materials such as cast-iron radiators and
surplus gypsum board.
